RT1 will build the capacity of Rhode Island to tackle the growing threat of plastic pollution in our natural environment. Currently, we do not have enough information about the level of pollution in our watershed, and this limits our ability to develop effective management plans to protect local ecosystems and communities.

 

RT1 will address this deficit by implementing a comprehensive sampling plan and inviting community members to participate in the sampling process. The results of these efforts will be used to develop a database of information on the presence and characteristics of NMPs throughout the Narragansett Bay watershed to meet the needs and priorities of stakeholder groups across the state.
