RT3: Assessing the accumulation of NMPs in fish and shellfish

The eventual fate of many NMPs in the marine environment is to sink to the seafloor. This puts organisms that reside near the seabed at a high risk of exposure to NMPs. Although this high risk of exposure is well understood, we currently do not have a strong understanding of how NMPs impact these ecologically, culturally, and economically valuable species. RT3 will address this problem by sampling focal species around the seabed based on high exposure risk, scientific expertise, and importance to local stakeholders and community members. These efforts will provide local agencies, industries, and communities with actionable information to reduce the risk of NMPs exposure.
